First Baptist Church
This project sustained hail damage to multiple roofing materials in 2017. The main building of the church was a very steep (14/12 pitch) asphalt roofing system which covered 18,700 SF. All work was done as so not to interrupt day to day operations.
The main building of the church was a very steep (14/12 pitch) asphalt roofing system which covered 18,700 SF. All shingles, felt and accessories needed to be completely torn off before inspecting the roof sheathing. Hytek found significant damage to roughly 1,000 SF of ½” plywood that needed to be replaced in order for Hytek to properly secure the new roof system.
The secondary portion that sustained damage was a flat roof system consisting of modified bitumen roofing with a gravel ballast layered over the top. All existing materials were stripped down to the deck, which in this case, was concrete. In order to properly secure the insulation required, Hytek used a 2 part low rise adhesive across the entire 9,000 SF. The new roofing system chosen by the customer was a fully adhered 60 mil TPO. To assist in the energy efficiency of the roof system, white was chosen as the membrane color.
